Frequently asked questions

Why did my chocolate thicken after adding extract?

Your chocolate seized up because adding a small amount of liquid—like water—causes the dry ingredients in the chocolate, such as sugar and cocoa, to bind together and form a grainy, thick paste. Chocolate is an emulsion of fat and dry particles, and introducing just a little liquid disrupts that balance, making everything clump instead of staying smooth. This is why we add paramount crystals to your chocolate when packaging. Be sure to mix fully, and do not overheat to create that smooth consistency.

Heat warning / My chocolate melted in transit

Chocolate melts are shipped year-round, however, chocolate may melt in shipping if ordering during warmer months. If it melts during shipping, it can be remelted without any impact to your product! (All food products are non-refundable, even if affected by the heat.)

My bar layers are separating

This happens when you freeze your first layer for too long. This causes the cocoa butter to crystallize unevenly, leading to a dry or rough surface. This disrupts the fat crystal network and reduces adhesion, preventing the second layer from properly bonding, which causes the layers to separate.

Why is my chocolate clumping?

Your chocolate is clumping because it got too hot. When overheated, the cocoa butter separates from the cocoa solids, causing the mixture to seize and turn grainy instead of smooth. Melt chocolate slowly and gently to prevent this.

There are little bubbles on the front of my chocolate bar

The small holes in your chocolate are air bubbles that got trapped when it was poured. Gently tap/bang the mold against the table to release them before it sets, those bubbles stay inside and create little holes as the chocolate hardens.

An ingredient broke in shipping

We do our best to handle and pack everything with care. Some of our ingredients are a bit fragile — but don’t worry! You’ll be breaking them up for your bar anyway, so it won’t affect their quality or use.

Why cant I substitute the type of chocolate?

We carefully test each recipe to ensure the perfect balance of flavor and texture. This way, every bite delivers the curated experience we’ve designed for you!

(We may offer a-la-carte chocolate in the future.)

How do I return my order?

We totally get it— sometimes things don’t go as planned! But since our goodies are food items, we can’t take them back once they’ve left our kitchen (as much as we’d love to). Due to health and safety regulations, we cannot restock or resell edible products once they’ve left our facility.
